Change how citations are displayed

This step-by-step guide shows you how to configure the way citations are displayed for your AI agent.

  1. Click Personalize.
  1. Click Citation tab.
  1. Under Citation Types, enable or disable the formats you want to use:
    • Numbered references (inline citations): Includes in-text numbered references that point to citation sources.
  • After response (classic citations): Displays citations at the end of the response.
    Both can be enabled at the same time.

Note: Citations from external sources, like Web Search, use these same formats automatically - there's no separate setting to turn on. Refer to How citations from external sources work to see how they're marked.

  1. Click Save Settings to apply your configuration.
