How context-rich starter questions work

What is Context-rich Starter Questions?

Context-rich starter questions are automatically generated prompts based on the content of the page where your agent is embedded. Instead of showing the same questions on every page, the agent creates a question relevant to what the visitor is looking at, encouraging conversations that are relevant to what they are viewing, and improving engagement and conversion potential.

This feature works best when paired with Prompt user with a Starter Question, which lets the agent display the context-rich question as a visual prompt automatically.

How Context-rich Starter Questions work?

1. When the agent is deployed on a webpage, it checks for page content saved using the Context Awareness feature.
2. If content is available, the agent generates a starter question based on that content.
3. Questions are generated per page, not per site. Each time a visitor opens a page where the agent is deployed, the agent checks whether a question already exists for that specific page and whether it is less than 30 days old. If the question is older than 30 days, or no question exists yet, the agent generates a new one.
4. If you edit a question manually, it stays as-is and is not updated during the monthly re-sync.
5. This question is placed at the top of the starter questions list, above any manually added prompts.
6. If the deployment type is Live Chat and Agent Initiative is enabled, the context-rich question is shown as a visual prompt.
7. The prompt is written from the agent's perspective, but when clicked, it is submitted as if it came from the user.
8. If no saved content is found for the page, the agent falls back to the first regular starter question instead.
