Two-tier team roles

This guide explains the two-tier team roles system available to Enterprise customers using CustomGPT.ai for Teams. This structure provides greater flexibility in assigning user permissions while helping organizations manage costs more efficiently.

What are two-tier team roles?

Enterprise workspaces can now assign members to one of two distinct roles:

  • Builder – Full-access team members who can create, edit, and manage agents, configure settings, view analytics, and access all workspace features.
  • Chat-only – Limited-access team members who can interact with agents but cannot edit, configure, or manage any workspace settings. To understand what chat-only members can do, see: Chat-only role.

This two-tier approach ensures the right level of access for every team member based on their responsibilities.


Why use chat-only roles?

Chat-only roles offer a cost-effective way to scale your team. Since chat-only members have reduced permissions, they are available at a lower price compared to builder seats.

This makes them ideal for departments or teams where users only need conversational access, such as:

  • Customer support teams
