Verify your analytics agent connection
Confirm your analytics agent is correctly connected and answering, whichever connection method you used.
This guide applies whether you connected your analytics agent with an [API key] or an [MCP server].
Verify it works
- Open your analytics agent's chat and ask for last week's query volume for the connected agent.
- Confirm the answer returns real numbers, not an empty result or a permission error.
- Ask a follow-up that requires message content - for example, the top five unanswered questions - to confirm it can read messages.
- Confirm it can't post: ask it to send a message to the agent it's reporting on. It should refuse or fail.
Try asking your analytics agent
Once it's connected, a few questions to get started with:
- "How many queries did we get last week?"
- "What are people asking that we can't answer?"
- "What are the top five unanswered questions?"
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| I can't find where to get the MCP link. | It's under Deploy > MCP server on the agent you're analyzing, not under Actions. |
| Add your first API button is greyed out. | Smart Tasks isn't enabled on your analytics agent, or its Make External Connections capability is off. See Enable and configure Smart Tasks. |
| Answers come back empty. | The agent you connected has no query history yet. Connect an agent with real conversations. |
| Permission or auth error. | Re-copy the key or link - a truncated paste is the usual cause. Confirm the key hasn't been revoked. |
| My analytics agent gives vague, non-numeric answers. | Confirm it's set to Plan & Act mode, and that only one connection method is configured. |
| Still stuck. | Go to Resources > Contact Support in your dashboard, or visit Support. |
