How Improved Numeric Search works

Improved Numeric Search helps your agent find exact codes, SKUs, part numbers, order IDs, error codes, version numbers more accurately than standard Numeric Search.

What changed

With standard Numeric Search, your agent searches for codes at the moment someone asks a question. This adds a small delay to every search that involves codes.

Improved Numeric Search does the work earlier. When a document is uploaded or re-synced, your agent reads through it, picks out all the codes, and saves a record of them. When someone searches, the agent looks up that record directly instead of scanning through text. The result is better accuracy with no delay at search time.

What happens when a document is processed

When a document is added or re-synced with the setting enabled, your agent scans it for codes and saves a record of them. Future searches use that record rather than scanning through the full document text.

Why it is opt-in

Building the record takes extra time each time a document is uploaded or re-synced. If your agent does not deal with codes and identifiers, the extra processing is not worth it.

Enable it when your agent needs to reliably find codes: product catalogs, parts lookup, support documentation with error codes, or any source where getting a code wrong produces a wrong answer.

What codes it recognizes

Improved Numeric Search reads and keeps a record of the following:

  • Product SKUs and part numbers
  • Order IDs
  • Error codes
  • Version numbers
  • Codes mixed into regular text or spreadsheets
